Bangladesh jabs 1.2cr people Saturday, highest in a day

Some 1.2 crore people were inoculated on Saturday in the mass Covid-19 vaccination drive.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque revealed the information while attending an event at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka on Sunday.
“Of the total 1.2 people jabbed yesterday, some 1.1 crore received their first vaccine shot, " the minister said.
The number has exceeded the target of vaccinating once crore people, he said.
So far, 83 percent of the total population in Bangladesh have been vaccinated, he added
Health Services Division Secretary Lokman Hossain Mia, Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam were present at the event among others.
