After Bangladeshi smartphone brand Walton went global with the US market, Symphony is now exporting “Made in Bangladesh” smartphones to Nepal.
However, Walton exports its smartphones to the US under “contract manufacturing”.
Therefore, Symphony Mobile claims it is the first company in Bangladesh that is exporting smartphones with the brand name tagging 'Made in Bangladesh'.
Apex Group, a well-known company in Nepal, is taking these smartphones from Symphony.
Symphony mobile started exporting mobile phones to Nepal in October 2021.
About 15,000 handsets of three models were sent directly to the Apex Group as the first lot.
Symphony mobile has planned to send about 10,000 phones of different models per month to Nepal through Apex Group.
In the presence of Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar, Telecommunications Secretary Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder, and Symphony Mobile Managing Director Zakaria Shahid, the mobile company officially declared its exporting journey on January 22.
Zakaria Shahid said, “We will export 10,000 products from Bangladesh to the Nepal market every month. We have the capacity to produce 1 million products per month in our factory. The factory is run by around 15 hundred people and in addition to this more than fifty thousand to one lakh people are directly or indirectly involved in the production activities.
“Apart from Nepal, we are also planning to export our mobile phones to Nigeria, Sudan, Vietnam, and Srilanka by 2022,” he said.
In his speech, Minister Mostafa Jabbar thanked Symphony for the initiative and said he would like to see Symphony Mobile in 50 more countries very soon and hoped that the Bangladesh government would extend any kind of help if needed.
In 2018, Symphony Mobile started its journey with about 55,000 square feet factory at Jirabo, Ashulia.
Now Symphony Mobile's factory is built on its own land at Aukpara Dairy Farm in Ashulia on an area of about 2 lakh square feet where about 12 million mobile phones are being produced every year.
In addition to smartphones, Symphony is also making various parts and accessories for mobile phones.
Symphony's factory is producing 8 lakh chargers, 8 lakh batteries, and 8 lakh earphones per month and they are planning to increase the number in near future, according to the company.
Symphony Managing Director Zakaria Shahid also announced that Symphony will bring the “Made in Bangladesh” tablet shortly to the market.
