Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was hospitalised on Tuesday morning following a chest pain.
Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League (AL), was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
AL’s Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua confirmed his illness.
Biplob Barua on behalf of Obaidul Quader urged the countrymen to pray for his early recovery.
The doctors at the hospital said Quader felt chest pain which has been relieved now. They also recommend that he should stay in the hospital for several tests.
The hospital authorities and AL have requested visitors to refrain from crowding the hospital.
Earlier, Quader underwent a bypass surgery on March 20 in 2019 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for three blockages in his coronary artery.
