Road transport owners and the regulatory authorities BRTA held a closed-door meeting to increase fares in the aftermath of the 23 percent hike in diesel and kerosene prices which triggered a transport strike since the last Friday.

The meeting at the BRTA office in the capital on the third day of the strike is expected to bring a resolution for transport movement.

BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Mojumder presided over the meeting started at 11.30 am on Sunday in which Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Secretary-General Khandaker Enayetullah, Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association Deputy General Secretary Rakesh Ghosh and other transport sector representatives took part.
