Dhamaka COO arrested on fraudulent charge

Rapid Action Battalion has arrested the chief operating officer of e-commerce platform Dhamaka Shopping and two others from Dhaka in connection with a fraudulent charge.

Among the arrestees Sirajul Islam Rana, is the COO of the e-commerce platform while identities of the rest two arrestees could not be known immediately, Rab sources said.

A team of the elite force raided different places including Tejgaon area of Dhaka and arrested them last night.

Earlier on September 23, one Shamim Khan, a garment worker, lodged a case with Tongi West Police Station against SMD Jasimuddin Chisti, managing director of the e-commerce platform and others for their indulgence in fraudulent activities.

The others accused of the case are M Ali alias Majtaba Ali, chairman of the Dhamaka Shopping, Devkar De Shubho, chief business officer, Safoan Ahmed, head of accounts, Amirul Hossain, deputy manager, Imtiaz Hasan, head of system, Ibrahim Swapan, vice president, Nirad Baran Roy, deputy managing director and two staff Nazim Uddin and Asif Chsti, of the e-commerce platform.

Rab will hold a press conference this noon to brief the media elaborately over the arrest.
