It is not 80 lakh that the health minister said on Sunday would be vaccinated on Tuesday marking the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Many people were puzzled to see the figure. Some questions came up in their minds. Why will 80 lakh doses of Covid vaccine be administered? Will our PM turn 80 on the day?

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday cleared the confusion just a day after Health Minister Zahid Maleque’s announcement.

The DGHS in an advertisement in different media outlets on Monday said that 75 lakh vaccine doses will be given to 75 lakh new people on Tuesday marking the 75th birthday of Sheikh Hasina.

It will be the biggest single-day mass vaccination of Bangladesh since the country started its first vaccine campaign on February 7 this year.

Earlier, Bangladesh has administered 28 lakh doses of vaccines in a single day.
