The government has approved the establishment of Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology at Bhairab upazila in Kishoreganj
The government has approved the establishment of Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology at Bhairab upazila in Kishoreganj.
The education ministry has issued an order approving the temporary establishment and operation of the university at village Banshgari under Bhairab.
With the new approval the number of private universities now stands at 108 in this country, said a press release.
Dr HBM Iqbal, a former lawmaker of the ruling Awami League, took the initiative to found the university.
According to the Private University Act, a proposed university must have own or rented building with an area of at least 25,000 square feet.
There should be adequate infrastructure, including at least three faculties and six departments under the faculties, adequate classrooms, libraries, laboratories, common rooms for female students and seminar rooms.
The university should recruit full-time qualified teachers in an adequate number fixed by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh for each department and course.
