13 among 4,700 India returnees in Benapole tested Covid-19 positive

As many as 4,700 Bangladeshi citizens returned from India from April 26 to May 30 using Benapole port.
Among them, 13 tested positive for Covid-19, while 5 of them carried the deadly Indian strain. All of them are in institutional quarantine.
The coronavirus-infected citizens have been kept in the red zone of Jashore Sadar Hospital’s Corona unit, Sharsha Upazila Health and Family Welfare Official Yousuf Ali said.
Meanwhile, the Jashore Sharsha upazila administration’s corona prevention committee has taken several initiatives to reduce harassment and financial expenses of returnees from India.
The initiatives include — managing quarantine at the hospital and reduced cost in transportation and hotel.
