8 more dengue patients die, 2,168 hospitalised in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded eight more deaths from dengue and 2,168 new cases in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, according to the health department.

The total number this year’s fatalities from dengue stood at 493 so far. Of them, three died in Dhaka and five outside it, according to a handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).

During the period, some 842 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever in the capital Dhaka and 1,326 outside it. This year’s total number of dengue cases reached 10, 4395 in 2023, said the DGHS.

A total of 7,829 dengue patients, including 3,570 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country.

The country recorded 281 deaths from dengue in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019.

The health department also recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the last year.
