9 more dengue patients die, 2,197 hospitalised in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded nine more deaths from dengue and 2,197 new cases in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, according to the health department.

The total number this year’s fatalities from dengue stood at 485 so far. Of them, six died in Dhaka and three outside it, according to a handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).

During the period, some 772 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever in the capital Dhaka and 1,325 outside it. This year’s total number of dengue cases reached 1,02,191 in 2023, said the DGHS.

A total of 7,686 dengue patients, including 3,607 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country.

The country also recorded 281 deaths from dengue in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019.

The health department also recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the last year.
