Will do my best to make polls acceptable to all parties: CEC

The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has said that he will do his best to make the upcoming elections acceptable by all political parties.

The former senior secretary was expressing his reaction to the media after being sworn in as the CEC on Sunday.

The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and four Election Commissioners were sworn in at the Judge's Lounge of the Supreme Court Sunday by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.

‎‎Habibul Awal said, “We will go to our workplace tomorrow, talk among our colleagues and learn the responsibilities placed on us according to the constitution.”

“Every election is a challenge, be it local or central. There is no room to be afraid of the challenges — we will face them head-on,” he added.

However, the CEC said he was not sure where the challenges lie and will learn about them once he takes full charge.
