Dhaka (Oct 29, 2020): The government has extended closure of all educational institutes till November 14 with aim to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Education Minister Dipu Moni came up with the announcement at a virtual press briefing this noon.

Earlier, the government has extended the closure of all educational institutes across the country till October 31 on the same ground.

Taking the overall situation of teachers, students and their guardians into consideration, the government again took the decision, the education minister said at the press conference.

“We are thinking about reopening of the educational institutes in small scale. We will monitor the overall situation in the next two weeks. If the situation comes in our favour then, we will consider the reopening in a small scale,” she said.

The number of coronavirus infection is increasing in different countries including India across the world, she said adding that the government is overseeing all the aspects in this regard.

She said the textbook distribution festival, which is observed every year on January 1, will not be held this year due to the pandemic of the Covid-19.

The textbooks will be sent to all educational institutes across the country at the right time, the minister said.

The country’s all educational institutes including private and public universities remained closed since March 17 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The government has also postponed JSC, PEC, HSC and theses equivalent examinations and annual examination of the secondary schools on the same reason.
